Just thinking…

What A Difference A Day Makes

I was just thinking…this past week there were a couple of things that reminded me of how anything is possible with God!  I don’t watch much television, but one evening I was flipping through the channels and ran across a show, Inside Edition that featured a video of a homeless man with a God given “golden voice.” I almost turned the channel …but then I heard the man speak, and oh my goodness!  He truly did have an amazing voice!  Now mind you Inside Edition is one of those shows that hooks you in by showing you previews of what’s to come, and then the one segment you’re interested in, they show towards the end of the broadcast.  So I had to watch the whole show in order to hear this guy’s story…and that amazing voice again.

Now it wasn’t until the next day that I found myself praising God with him!  Within 24 hours, this man had gone from being homeless to having multiple job offers with organizations like the Cavaliers, and MTV, where he’d have an opportunity to use that amazing voice.  His God given voice. Turns out that the video went viral, millions of people either wanted to hear his story or be one of the first to share his story.  That day he was in various interviews telling about how drugs and alcohol was instrumental in his life spiraling out of control, and how all he wanted was a job, a house, and to see his 92 year old mother who lived in New York.

Now, I was already happy for him because he’d been given an opportunity to not only get off the streets, but to also work -doing some of the things he enjoyed like radio, voiceovers, etc.  But what impressed me the most in all of this is that this once homeless man gave God all the glory.  What a wonderful reminder of how God can change a situation in a heartbeat!   It also reminds me that God has given us all a gift to use for not only building His Kingdom, but for our success.  He gives us everything we need to be successful.   Whether it’s having the ability to cook, write, or sing someone happy, we all have something that God has given us to use for good.  A dear friend and business associate of mine, Carmen R., said to me the other day that we need to be using our gifts to the greatest capacity in order to best serve and impact the greater good.  That’s powerful!  …but are we?  Are we really using our gifts, talents, or abilities to lift up, help, or serve others?
