Whew! What a week!

Hopefully this little note is finding you well!

Thanks to family and friends sending text messages, emails, inbox messages (from all over the world including Spain! Shout out to Fiona), I learned that my photo was on Amazon’s homepage! Here’s a screen shot:

That’s me… next to Janet Jackson!! NOTE: I had no clue that was her until an author friend told me (don’t talk about me).

So, anyway, none of this might be a big deal to some of you, but for me—it’s WILD! Lol! Of all of the fifty-million (I’m probably exaggerating) entrepreneurs who use Amazon’s platform to help support their small businesses, they included MY author photo to grace their popular homepage! Is that crazy??? Anyway, I was shocked and thrilled…and shocked!

Now…how it came to be…

Actually, I’m not sure how they chose me…or my photo, but a couple of months ago, an Amazon representative contacted me and asked if I’d be a part of a Black History Month project that they were working on. At first, I said thanks, but I can’t. It was around the holidays, I was late on meeting a book deadline, and I was mentally and physically exhausted. I didn’t think I could add another thing to my “to do” list. They understood, but asked when would be a good time for me to participate. Lol. Long story short, we agreed on a date and time for an interview, and I can honestly say, I’m glad I did it. The time commitment was short, they asked thought-provoking questions about my experience as an African American entrepreneur which turned into good conversation, and it was actually fun chatting with them.

So, I hadn’t heard anything else from them and had actually forgot about the interview…until I heard that my photo was on their home page. AND when I clicked on the photo, it led to a snippet of the telephone conversation that I’d had with them.
