They beat the odds and turned their lives around. But now three best friends will go head-to-head with ambition, deception–and each other . . .

Derrick. Ricky. Jamal. One’s responsible; one’s still a player; one’s upwardly-mobile. Sentenced to the Branch Avenue Boys’ Youth Institute at twelve, they grabbed the chance for better futures. They stayed tight even when their lives diverged–but the times . . . they are a-changing.

New deputy mayor Jamal is anti-corruption, which means severing ties with Ricky, now a “criminally-adjacent” businessman. But political power plays and unrequited love will lead Jamal to a lethal choice . . .

Ricky doesn’t mind running a front for DC’s biggest drug dealer, but when he pursues a sexy customer at his strip club and discovers she’s a cop, any wrong move could end Ricky’s good times permanently . . .

Now the Institute’s new leader, Derrick is torn between his job and his fiancée, Melissa. But when a cute new instructor who supports him and his mission arrives, he wonders if he should leave Melissa behind, not the Institute. However, this dilemma is nothing compared to a problem brewing right under his nose, and the fallout will strike at the heart of the three friends’ bond–and put more than their survival on the line . . .

As Good As The First Time by K.M. Jackson

Hi All!

Have you seen the latest by K.M Jackson? If not, you’re missing out! AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME is now available! Here’s a little peek:

Blurb:

True to its name, the small southern town of Sugar Lake is a sweet place to visit—and you might even want to live there . . .

With her big-city career and relationship in sudden free fall, Olivia Gale isn’t sure where she belongs. So when her help is needed at Goode ʼN Sweet, the family bakery in Sugar Lake, she jumps at the chance to indulge her pie-making hobby while getting her life back on track. Olivia’s not looking for any distractions. Even if the boy who once left her without a word is now a grown man with intriguing secrets—and the same tempting hold on her heart . . .

A firefighter and single dad, Clayton Morris is trying hard to fix his past mistakes. He thought he was doing the right thing by leaving Olivia—and now he’s sure he has nothing to offer the accomplished woman she’s become. But ignoring the sparks between them is impossible. And as unexpected surprises and hard choices endanger their fragile reunion, they’ll have to decide which direction to take if they want to find the road back to love . . .

Excerpt:

“Sweetness.”

The word dripped from his lips like syrup and decadence. But Liv wasn’t buying it, and she narrowed her eyes, giving him an intense stare. He laughed. “No, I’m just joking. It’s honey. I’ve got your aunt’s usual order of honey.”

Liv raised a brow. Honey? She knew he meant that he had honey in his bag because, yes, she remembered that Aunt Joyce said that he had some sort of organic honey-farming deal going on. Something else to add to his cachet of ridiculous perfectness, even if it was a bit odd. Come on. In order to get honey, one had to deal with bees.

Obviously, Aunt Joyce thought Clayton was laying it on a little thick too, because she chimed in. “Cut the flirting now, Clayton Morris, and quit teasing my niece. I’d like my order today.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Clayton said as he shot one last grin Liv’s way before heading down the counter to Aunt Joyce.

Liv watched as Clayton pulled the amber jars of honey out of his bag, holding them up to the light that filtered in from the side windows. She enjoyed seeing the pride on his face as he tilted the jar left and right. He opened it with his long-tapered fingers as Aunt Joyce got a couple of her biscuits and brought out a spoon and knife from behind the counter. “You girls come on over here and taste this. I promise you you’ve never tasted anything like Clayton’s honey.”

Liv fought to keep her countenance placid as she walked over toward the rest, purposely taking a spot on the other side of the counter as far as she could get from Clayton.

Aunt Joyce cut a couple of biscuits in half and spread a bit of the honey over the top. “Now, I’ve used some honey from Lowers in the past, and it’s all right, but I tell you, after you try Clayton’s, you’ll see why I had to give up on Lowers, which has made him right mad. But I had to do what I had to do.” She gave Clayton a smile that was full of pride. “This boy here’s got something special. And it has taken my honey biscuits to a new stratosphere.”

She handed a honeyed biscuit to Drea, who took a bite and hummed her appreciation. “Wow, this really is good,” Drea said, wide-eyed. “You’ve got something here. You take this to New York and you could make a mint.”

Clayton laughed. “I don’t think my small hive of bees could handle the pace of New York. Thanks. I’m good with what I’ve got here in town and the small surrounding areas. I do well enough,” he said, giving a look to Liv, who couldn’t help eyeing the biscuits suspiciously. She was sure that if she took a bite, it would taste better than anything she ever tasted in her life and she wouldn’t be able to stop at just one taste. But then Aunt Joyce chimed in again. “What’s holding you up, girl? It’s not like the biscuit is going to bite you.”

Liv blinked and looked up. Promise?  There was Clayton, and he was now holding a biscuit up in front of her; the biscuit, dripping with glistening honey, was way too close to her lips. Oh heck, she had no choice but to take a bite. Not taking it would be rude, and besides, everyone was looking at her. Clayton, his eyes deep dark and intense, questioning, teasing, challenging her with their mirth. Liv had to lean forward and open her mouth.

New Release – ACCUSED, book 3 of the Atlanta’s Finest Series

Hi All!

It’s release day for ACCUSED, book 3 of my Atlanta’s Finest Series! This is Kenton Bailey and Egypt Durand’s story. You first met them in VINDICATED, book 1 of the series. They weren’t a couple in that story, but in INDEBTED, it was clear that Kenton was interested. However, Egypt doesn’t make things easy for him. You’ll see what I mean. Get ready for a wild ride!

He wants to forget his pastShe’s hiding from hers…

Former FBI agent Kenton Bailey traded in his badge when an assignment went horribly wrong. Now he provides personal security to high-end clients. But falling for Egypt Durand, the Queen of Supreme Security, wasn’t part of the plan. She’s smart, classy, and ignites a fire in him that only she can extinguish. Except she retreats from his advances…and she’s shrouded in a veil of secrecy.

Egypt has never met a man as sexy as Kenton. Funny and smart, he’s hard to resist. But her past leaves no room for a happily ever after. Still, with him, she dreams of a future.

Finally, Egypt’s startling truths are revealed, throwing Kenton off balance and forcing him to confront the past he left behind. And when threats from a dangerous crime family send Egypt bolting, Kenton convinces her to stay. Together they will fight to bring closure to their pasts, but will they live long enough to explore the passion brewing between them?

Excerpt:

“Why do I always have to go through this with you, Hamilton, and Angelo? Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate you guys looking out for me, but I’m a big girl. I don’t need my big brothers, going all He-Man whenever I have a date.”

“You know not to include me in the big brothers’ scenario,” Kenton said in a low voice close to her ear, his hand moving to her hip.

Had he not known for a fact that their feelings for each other were mutual, he wouldn’t have made such a bold move. He was close enough to feel Egypt shudder against him.

“I definitely don’t see you or consider you as a sister. In fact, the things I’d love to do with you would not fall into the brotherly love zone.”

Her hand went to his chest, and her touch scorched his skin right through his shirt. At 5’9” she was tall for a woman, but even with her high heels, the top of her head only came up to his nose. He had always been attracted to tall, curvy women and she didn’t disappoint.

“Kenton, I…we,” she started, but stopped and dropped her gaze. When her tongue slid across her bottom lip, an uncontrollable growl rumbled in his throat.

“Cancel your date, and go out with me,” he said, caressing her soft cheek with the pad of his thumb.

Egypt glanced up at him, and the urge to kiss her was stronger than ever.

“I already told you. I can’t go out with you.”

“You can’t or you won’t?”

She stepped out of his hold but didn’t move away. “Is there a difference?”

Kenton shoved his hands into his front, pants pockets to keep from touching her again. “Yeah, there is a difference. Have you ever seen the movie, Pretty Woman?”

Egypt’s brows shot up. “Are you kidding me? There’s not a woman alive who hasn’t seen the movie, at least twice. Question is, have you seen it?”

“I have three sisters, two who are older. It was impossible for me not to see it and every other chick flick that exists. The point is, toward the end of the movie, when Edward asks Vivian to stay with him for one more night, she gives a teary-eyed I can’t. That’s how you say I can’t, but without the tears.”

Egypt stared at him with her mouth hanging open but didn’t say anything.

“When you tell me you can’t go out with me, that speaks volumes. It means you can’t go out with me because you’re afraid, or it’s because of something that has happened in your past. Deep down, you really do want to date me.”

She shook her head, and Kenton didn’t miss the soft smile spreading across her lips. “You’re too much. You know that?”

“Tonight, there was something else behind your words, and I can’t put my finger on it. Have I done something to make you think that you and I can’t date? And don’t give me that shit about fraternizing. That rule is not included in our employee handbook.”

“Kenton…”

He grasped her arm gently and pulled her close. “If you told me that you won’t or will never go out with me, I would’ve backed off a long time ago. You haven’t done that. So which is it? You can’t go out with me, or you don’t want to?”

Egypt folded her bottom lip between her teeth as if debating on whether to tell him the truth or lie. As a former undercover FBI agent, he’d been good at reading people, and he already knew the answer. She wanted to be with him as much as he wanted to be with her, but something was holding her back. He didn’t know what, but he had every intention of finding out.

“Sweetheart, your silence tells me everything I need to know.”

All or Nothing Series by Nyora Rene and Giveaway!

Have you read the lastest by Nyora Rene? If not, here’s a sneak peek of her All or Nothing Series. Oh and she has a giveaway!

About Love Rekindled:

NBA superstar Malcolm James has everything—fame, money, and two beautiful kids—but no woman to call his own. When his ex, Charmaine Mouton, arrives in Houston to sing the national anthem at the All-Star Game, he can’t help but remember all the good times they shared, and he’s determined not to let her get away again.

Five years ago, Charmaine Mouton made the difficult choice to pursue a singing career and lost the love of her life in the process. Now a successful recording artist, when she sees Malcolm again, she decides to reach for the life she left behind.

But relationships take work, and Malcolm and Charmaine will have to put in the work if they want their love to last the second time around.

Excerpt

Malcolm grabbed Charmaine’s hand and led her back toward the tunnel.

“That was a great game, Malcolm.”

“Thanks, angel. That means a lot coming from you,” he told her.

“Where did your kids go?” She glanced around as if they would pop out at any moment.

“It’s their mother’s week to keep the kids, and she made plans to take them to a pizza place with her boyfriend.”

“Oh…”

“Everything okay?”

“Yeah, everything is fine,” she told him with a small smile.

“Speaking of fine…girl, you looked sexy in that outfit you wore to sing the national anthem. It was all I could do to stay on the sidelines and not come after you, especially when you turned around to walk back to the tunnel. I damn near bit my tongue looking at your ass.”

“Well, I did aim to please and wow the crowd,” she said.

“You succeeded. I can’t wait to get you back to my house. Go ahead and tell your security that you’ll be riding with me and that they have the rest of the night off. You’re staying with me tonight,” he said in a firm voice, gazing into her eyes.

“Oh, so I’m spending the night?” she asked, eyebrows raised.

“Oh, yeah baby, you’re going to spend the night in my arms.”

“Movie night?” she asked, gazing at him from beneath lowered lids.

“We can watch a movie too. I have the Iron Man trilogy, and I know how much you like him. Just don’t think that movies are all I have planned. I intend to taste you all over, from top to bottom and all the places in. And then I plan on starting all over.”

Charmaine fanned herself as she looked into his eyes and saw the heat of desire and the promise that lay within their chocolate depths. She had no problem with his plans. They had lost time to make up for.

“Talk is cheap, don’t talk about it, be about it.” Turning, she walked off toward her dressing room to await him, putting an extra sway in her hips. After a few steps, she looked over her shoulder where he stood rooted to the spot.

Licking his lips, Malcolm smiled before slowly walking toward her.

Wild Thoughts by Delaney Diamond and Giveaway!

Have you read Delaney Diamond’s latest release – WILD THOUGHTS? If not, you’re missing out! Below, check out a sneak peek, and enter for a chance to win Delaney’s giveaway!

Series: Brooks Family, Book 3

Standalone: Yes

Publication Date: August 10, 2018

Publisher: Garden Avenue Press

Genre: Contemporary Romance

It started with a little white lie…
Lindsay Winthrop’s weekly podcast on sex and dating has garnered thousands of listeners across the country, thanks to experience with a loving fiancé she’s been with for years. Except, her husband-to-be doesn’t exist, and now she’s in a bind. With a book deal on the line, she has to find a man fast, and Malik Brooks might be just the man she’s looking for.

If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay away from her…
A few years ago, Malik gave up sex and now works hard as a metal sculptor. In doing so, he’s created enough pieces to fill a gallery, and his vow of celibacy has kept him focused. When a major deal falls through, Lindsay makes him an offer he can’t refuse, and all he has to do is pretend to be her fiancé. Sounds easy at first, but after one kiss, he wants more. Then things really get interesting.

Excerpt

Malik walked in holding a Styrofoam cup and brown paper sack and looked very delicious in a chest-hugging orange T-shirt and jeans. Her pulse rate tripled. She wanted him like she never wanted any man before. Breathe.

“Hey.” He gave the room a cursory review, and when the corners of his mouth pushed up into a slow, delicious smile, her toes curled in her shoes.

“What’s in the bag?” Lindsay went to stand in front of him.

“Mexican food from your new favorite place.” He handed the food and drinks to her.

His gaze traveled over her body, and she felt his look as if he’d trailed his fingers over her breasts and waist.

“My new favorite place?” she asked, continuing the friendly conversation despite the way the temperature in the room had raised a few notches. “On Buford Highway, I guess?”

“Of course.”

He was right. It was her new favorite place. She’d been back several times since their trip there.

Lindsay set the items on the table and peeked in the bag.

“A couple of tacos and a burrito,” Malik said. He was much closer now, his voice low and the heat from his body warming her back.

“That’s a lot of food.” She closed the bag.

“You can save some for later.”

Lindsay turned to face him, and he was standing closer than she thought. She reached for the mental strength required not to maul him.

“Why are you all up on me?” She stepped back so her thighs bumped the edge of the desk.

“Why do you think?” He came closer. A few more inches and they’d touch.

“I have no idea. I have no idea why you’re even here,” she whispered, because that’s all she could manage.

Malik hooked a finger in the waistband of her black slacks and pulled until the tips of her breasts touched his chest. His gaze dropped to her lips. “I think you know why I’m here.”

“Why don’t you tell me.”

His gaze flicked up to hers, and their eyes locked. “I’d rather show you.”

With a hand at her nape, Malik slanted his mouth over hers. She gave in without hesitation.

He ruined her wedding day and he’ll do it again until she’s his..

A man without a plan is a shell without purpose.

Which is why I sat down almost nine years ago and put pen to paper mapping out my ten-year plan. I meant business. Everything that could set me up for a lifetime of joy had to go down on the list, and every day I worked my ass off to fulfill it.

Open my own sports agency. Check.

Earn first million by my thirtieth birthday. I did that a week before I turned 26.

Negotiate the most lucrative contract in Major League’s history. Did that, too. Then went and broke my own record. (Thanks big bro!)

I could go on, but this isn’t about bragging. It’s me admitting in the midst of drafting something that helps shape and mold much of my success, I made a costly mistake.

One day I realized all those entries with corresponding checkmarks are pointless if I never factored into the equation the most important goal of all. Avery.

Perhaps way back then I wasn’t ready to see how much my best friend of fifteen years deserved that number one spot in my life. Maybe I was blind since the whole settle down and get married scenario wasn’t my thing since, well, forever. But now that I’m aware of the role I need her to fill in my life, there’s no such thing as letting go until I can convince her to be mine.

Considering she’s about to marry someone else does make winning her heart a little bit dicey. But if there’s anything you should ever know about me is that I always play to win. And losing Avery is non-negotiable.

Excerpt

She sits down on a padded wicker loveseat. Instead of going to a chair, I sit beside her. Close enough that her thigh brushes against mine a few times. Avery shifts to balance her plate and scoot away a few inches, but my proximity leaves little room for her to go.

“Tell me about the email.”

Her feigned interest in the food on her plate distracts me from the conversation. Avery was once a self-declared foodie, but this new version of her makes no sense, and coincides with him.

I slice a piece of sausage and drop it on her plate between the quinoa and blueberries she must have requested but has understandably lost interest in. “Try it.”

“Drew.”

Forking two of the pieces off my plate for myself, I chew and nudge her again. “Eat.”

“Stop talking with food in your mouth.” When she rolls her eyes and smirks at me, I know I’m making progress.

“I will if you eat that,” I say, pointing my fork at the sausage. Chef Laurel flew selections like this organic sage chicken sausage in just for Avery. He would likely grunt if I wanted something from the Whole Foods around the corner from my house. And I’m the one paying him. She has to know it. I know I do. Chef Laurel is wrapped around this woman’s finger, almost as tightly coiled around it as me.

Nah, there’s no way she could have anyone else as twisted around that pinky as tight as me.

Avery just has this effect on people. Even random strangers love doing things for her, because she’s always so giving of herself, and cares without expectation. Avery also adores Chef Laurel, and when he prepared a meal once with this sausage from whatever city we were visiting at the time, Avery made it known for an entire week straight how much she loved it. To thank her for appreciating his food, Chef often sends for it just because he knows how much she enjoys it.

And like the voice of temptation, it’s my duty to remind her of these things. “You know you want to.”

The corner of her mouth twitches until she graces me with a sweet smile. “I do.”

“I know. Here.” I add a full link and one of my pancakes to her plate.

To my surprise, she doesn’t protest anymore. I do catch a moment of remorse after her first bite, but by the second one, she’s forgotten all about the pile of quinoa on her plate.

“Mmmmm.”

This is where things get uncomfortable. Not like it was beachside yesterday—I’m talking about the way she just woke up my penis with that moan, like she did the other night. It doesn’t help that her head rolls back, as she has no shame indulging in what is obviously a rare moment of ecstasy—hair falling back over the sofa cushion, that sensual neck of hers daring me to move closer for a nip, and those brown eyes damn near rolling back into yesterday do me all the way in.

So how do I handle it? I take some more food off my plate and give it to her. You think I’m going to pass up the chance at watching someone as beautiful as Avery damn near have an orgasm over some buttermilk pancakes and maple syrup?

Avery takes another bite of my pancake and follows it with a quick swipe of the tongue to catch a drop of syrup hanging on to the edge of her bottom lip.

“What did the email say?”

Huh? I blink to shake the trance she put me in. “Oh. Donovan approved the budget and next month’s shooting schedule.”

Whatever I said instantly robs Avery of the blissful expression on her face that I was enjoying with her. I’ve heard about sexual encounters that fizzle with a quickness, so I’m guessing this would be the food version.

“What?” I ask.

Setting her plate down on the table in front of us, Avery starts to move in careful, measured ways. “Next month?”

“Why is that a surprise? You’re the one that drafted the schedule.”

She nods, and when she bites on her lip, I know whatever she’s about to say is not going to be good. “About that.”

Leveling my eyes on her, I put my plate down then drop an arm across the back of the sofa. “Avery.”

“I was hoping we could discuss this when we got back to Philly, but I guess I might as well tell you now.”

“Tell me what, Avery? Just spill it.”
