A Sneak Peek and Updates

Hi All!

I have a lot to celebrate these days! Can you believe that it’s been four years since I published my first book? I have to say – it’s been an awesome four years! When I started my writing journey, I had no idea it would be this rewarding. During this time, I have established great friendships with some amazing authors and don’t even get me started talking about my readers – they ROCK!

But before I tell you what’s been going on lately (and what’s coming), let me give you a sneak peek at my next release – SEDUCING THE BOSS LADY – book 5 of the Jenkins Family Series. Many of you probably remember Peyton “PJ” Jenkins. She’s an electrician and also the senior manager of Jenkins & Sons Construction. Well, Peyton has finally found love -again, unexpectedly, of course. Here’s a sneak peek:

SeducingBossLady 800x533

Blurb:

Master electrician, Peyton Jenkins, is tired of being the responsible Jenkins’ girl. She’s ready to hand over the reins of the family business for a chance to live life and find love. However, fear of getting hurt again keeps her from letting down her guard. That is until her world intersects with bad-boy, Michael Cutter. Their sparks ignite a passion that can’t be denied.

Private investigator, Michael Cutter, has no intention of falling for another pretty face, not even someone as beautiful as Peyton. But her smokin’ hot body and sass can’t be ignored. She desires love and commitment, yet the sins of his father continue to haunt Michael, deterring him from pursuing any relationship other than a casual fling.

Will their pasts keep them from taking a chance on love? And will love be enough to heal old wounds?

Excerpt:

Peyton glanced at the boarding pass in her hand to confirm her row and seat. 4A.

Annoyance jockeyed within her. Of course, someone would be sitting in 4A because that’s the way her morning had been going. First getting to the office at three and losing track of time, then running for her first flight only to be told once she was on the plane that it was delayed. Then landing in Miami thirty minutes late and having to run through yet another airport.

“Excuse me. You’re in my seat,” Peyton said to the man who was on his cell phone, papers and a file folder spread across the seat near the window as if he owned the whole row, using it as his office. “Excuse me,” she said a little louder when he ignored her.

Finally, he glanced up.

Peyton’s breath caught, and she swallowed hard. Hypnotic, light-brown, almost hazel-colored eyes met hers and she struggled to keep her mouth from hanging open. The man’s eyes, such a startling contrast against his tawny brown skin, stood out like a beacon in the night, guiding a lost soul home.

His intense gaze started at her slicked back hair and did a leisure crawl down her body, taking in every inch of her until he reached her black pumps. Suddenly, Peyton wished she had dressed a little sexier. Those gorgeous eyes met hers again, and her pulse kicked up. He didn’t speak, didn’t smile, nothing. But it was as if a magnetic force passed between them, his scrutiny pulling her in as he studied her face and she studied his.

Peyton’s throat went dry as she stood motionless.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but we need you to take your seat.” The flight attendant slammed closed the bin above Peyton’s head.

Poof. The spell was broken.

“And sir, I’m going to have to ask you to put your cell phone away as we prepare for takeoff.”

Peyton straightened and finally found her voice again. “You’re in my seat.”

Come along on this journey with Peyton (and Mr. Gorgeous Eyes) as they banter, laugh together, and fall madly in love. SEDUCING THE BOSS LADY coming – Friday, June 10, 2016!

RSJ Conference

This year I had the pleasure of traveling to Detroit, Michigan for the Romance Slam Jam conference. As usual, it was great hanging out with fellow authors and having readers come up to me and discuss my books – that never gets old! Like I said, my readers ROCK! They make me want to keep writing!

The weekend was filled with laughs and learning opportunities. I think my favorite event (besides Romancing Family Feud) was Friday night’s Riverboat Dinner & Cruise. The organizers laid the night out perfectly. There was great food, dancing, giveaways and A LOT of laughs…and cheering (like when author Deborah Mello’s mother won the dance contest)! It was nice to see authors and readers hanging out and having a good time together.

Next year, RSJ will be held in Los Angeles. Visit Rsjconvention.org for more information.

Future Projects & Book Series

I have a full schedule over the next few months. Now that the Jenkins Family Series is coming to an end, I have a couple of new series starting at the end of this year and early 2017. Jenkins & Sons Construction Series, as well as Atlanta’s Finest Series is coming soon. Both will be contemporary romance, but Atlanta’s Finest will have some suspense elements for those who like a little action (and drama) in their stories.

I’m also working on a fun project, coming at the end of this summer, with my good friends Candace Shaw and Delaney Diamond. I can’t wait to tell you more about this project – soon!

In the meantime, keep a look out for SEDUCING THE BOSS LADY – coming in a few days!

Below is a short blurb of what Secret Rendezvous is about, and an excerpt from one of the scenes. Once you download your free copy, you’ll also get a sneak peek at Rendezvous with Danger (Chapter One).

Blurb

Former Navy SEAL, Quinn Hamilton, is a special operative for the U.S. government and has been secretly dating CIA counter-intelligence officer, Alandra Pargas, for eight months. She’s brilliant, excited by danger, and the sexiest woman he’s ever known. Together they are a force to be reckoned with – inside and outside of the bedroom. But while Alandra is on assignment in Guerrero, Mexico, she’s captured by the country’s most dangerous drug cartel, and Quinn sets out on a black op of his own to save the woman he can’t live without.

Secret Rendezvous is the short story prequel to Rendezvous with Danger. Join me as we visit an old friend, Quinn Hamilton (first introduced in Blue Roses) and meet his love interest, Alandra Pargas.

Excerptthe excerpt below is right after Quinn finds out that Alandra is in trouble in Guerrero, Mexico.

“Damn! I can’t believe this shit,” he growled and slammed his hand against the steering wheel. This was why he hated her job, and knowing that she was in danger made him want to spit bullets. The CIA had their protocol for getting their agents out of dangerous situations, but Quinn could get into Guerrero and out before the CIA could mobilize a team.

He dug through the inside pocket of his jacket for his back up cell phone, his pulse pounding in his ears. He didn’t know what he’d do if anything happened to her. Alandra was everything he wanted in a woman. Strong willed, highly intelligent, and sexy as hell. They were perfect together. Eyes the color of honey, the face of an angel, and a curvaceous body made for loving. She was truly the total package, and he’d kill anyone who laid a hand on her.

He called a friend who owned a plane.

“Didn’t I just see you?” Terry Haines answered by way of greeting.

Quinn had run into Terry when he’d gotten off the plane twenty minutes ago.

“Yeah, man, but I have a huge favor.” He darted in and out of lanes hoping he wouldn’t get pulled over for reckless driving. “I need to get to Acapulco as soon as possible. Can you hook me up?”

“How fast can you get here?”

“Twenty minutes.”

He disconnected and speed-dialed the next person, not caring about the California hands free driving law.

“Yeah,” Cameron answered on the first ring.

“Wiz, I need your help.”

Cameron Miller earned his nickname “Wiz,” during their SEAL days for his uncanny ability to manipulate any computer or anything remotely related to a computer.

“You don’t sound too good. You okay?”

Hell no he wasn’t okay. The woman he loved more than life was in trouble and he was trying like hell to get to her before it was too late.

“I’m on my way to Mexico. Can you use your fancy equipment to trace this number?” He gave Wiz Alandra’s number, but not her name. He had yet to tell his friends he was seeing someone exclusively. Based on his bachelor for life motto, they probably wouldn’t believe it anyway. Besides, he wanted to keep their relationship quiet due to the work he did and the enemies he’d made. The last thing he needed was to have an adversary use her to get to him. “I’ll call you back when I get to the airport.”

“You got it. Anything else?”

“Yeah, call José in Acapulco. I’m heading that way and I’m going to need his help…and a helicopter.”

“Q, man, if you’re in some kind of trouble just say the word and I’m there.”

“I know, and I appreciate it. Right now I need you to stay near the phone and the computer. Let José know that this is a rescue mission. I need to get into Coyuca de Catalán once night falls and out of there even faster. I’ll call him with more details soon.”

A moment passed before Wiz spoke. “Who needs rescuing?”

“A friend.” Quinn’s hands gripped the steering wheel so tight his knuckles turned white. He didn’t want Alandra anywhere near the heartless bastards who ran drug cartels in Guerrero. He could still hear her in the background shouting out her location every so often. He not only wanted her to keep the phone on so that he could trace her location, but he wanted her to feel as if he were there with her.

Quinn blew out a ragged breath. He wanted to punch something or someone. He had to keep reminding himself that Alandra was a trained agent. She could kick ass better than some men he knew.

Wiz whistled through the phone. “Damn, this must be some friend. I seem to remember a certain ruthless drug lord who told you that if he caught you back in Guerrero again, he’d cut off your head and send it to your mother. Are you sure you don’t need me and Malik to roll with you?”

Malik Lewis, a fellow operative and another one of Quinn’s best friends, had saved his butt plenty of times, but right now there was no time to get everyone together. Besides, the less people involved the better.

“I’m good, man.” Quinn gave him additional instructions and disconnected just as he arrived at the airport.

Seconds later Alandra’s breath came in short spurts through the cell phone. She called out that she was climbing over yet another wall. He knew she heard dogs barking and yelling in the distance because he could hear them.

“They’re getting closer,” Alandra whispered. Quinn had been a part of more missions than he could count, some more dangerous than others, but this was personal. Nothing compared to hearing fear in his woman’s voice. So help me if anything happens to her…

Available Today – Blue Roses!

I’m happy to announce the release of my latest novel – Blue Roses! This is the first book from my Reunited Series. Remember Dallas Marcel from my debut novel, Something New? Well, Dallas is back, and is as feisty as ever!

Blurb:

Where most women would welcome love from a wealthy, good-looking man, Chicago-based investment manager, Dallas Marcel, is not one of them. She will never let a man control her life again. That includes handsome entrepreneur, Tyler Hollister. Dallas is on track to making partner and she’s not letting anything or anyone get in her way. But when her life is put in danger, and a Ponzi scheme ignites a SEC investigation of her firm, she realizes the one man she’d banned from her heart, might be the only one who can save her career and her life.

Tall, dark, and handsome, Tyler Hollister can have any woman he wants, but he only wants one – Dallas. When he starts talking marriage, she breaks things off between them, claiming she doesn’t want a romantic entanglement to hinder her plight to making partner. A chance meeting, six months later, brings them face to face and Tyler soon realizes the intense sexual attraction they once shared is stronger than ever. But he swore he was done with her. Except he finds out her life is in danger, and his protective instincts take over. Can he save her life without losing his heart … again?

Here’s an excerpt from Blue Roses

“Man, where are you?”

“I’m on my way.” Tyler Hollister pinned his cell phone between his shoulder and his ear as he fumbled for his keys on his way out of the dentist office.

“You were supposed to be here a half-an-hour ago.”

“Q, I’m sorry. Is the meeting over?”

“Nah, but I don’t know how much longer I can stall for you.”

Tyler glanced at his Breguet watch and hurried to his truck. He knew how much Quinn, his best friend and business partner hated meetings. “Okay, give me ten minutes. My appointment took longer than I thought, but I’m … damn, I’d know that sexy walk anywhere.” He stopped in his tracks when his eyes zoned in on the beautiful woman on the other side of the street.

“What? Ty, dude what’s up?”

He continued to observe as she made her way to the middle of the semi-crowded block in downtown Milwaukee weaving around people along the way. True to form, she caught the eye of a few guys passing. Tyler chuckled when they turned and enjoyed one more view once she’d passed. She always did have that effect on men. It wasn’t until she stopped to throw something in the trash, that he knew for sure it was her. Dallas Marcel, his ex-girlfriend.

“Q, I’ll call you back.” He disconnected not giving Quinn a chance to respond, and shoved the phone into his pocket. Tyler moved in her direction, stepping around a broken orange and white road barrier sign that was lying in the center of the sidewalk.

He stole a quick glance at Dallas as she came to a stop at the corner to wait for the light to change. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to say hello, he leaned against the brick building to his right, ensuring that she would have to walk past him once the light turned green.

Still gorgeous. Tall, fierce, and dressed to the nines. He loved it when she wore her long, thick hair piled high on top of her head, the way she had it now, with a few curly tendrils hanging down. The look complimented her perfectly sculpted face and revealed her long, sexy neck.

He cursed under his breath and looked away. He didn’t want to still be attracted to the most bullheaded woman he’d ever met. Too independent for her own good, but one of the best investment managers in Chicago, she was a woman on a mission. Her goal in life, or as he saw it, obsession, was to make partner at her firm – which was why she turned down his marriage proposal. According to her, she didn’t have room in her life for a serious relationship, despite the fact that they were perfect together, in every way.

“She threw what we had away, so why am I standing here just to say hello?” He mumbled and slipped a piece of gum into his mouth, not understanding his need to see her again.

His cell phone chirped twice signaling a text message, and he pulled it out of his pocket, and scanned the screen. No need to come – postponed the rest of the meeting until next week. Headed to Bradley Rd. to check on the guys.

Good. One less meeting. Tyler deposited his cell into the inside pocket of his suit jacket and adjusted his tie. As a real estate developer, it seemed most of his days were spent in meetings, reading over contracts, or dealing with building inspectors.

He pushed away from the building and rolled his shoulders just as the light turned green, and Dallas stepped off the curb. Finally, he’d be face-to-face with the woman he’d tried hard to forget, but couldn’t stop thinking about. He took a few steps when suddenly their eyes met, and a sensuous light passed between them. All of the sexual energy, passion and love he once felt for her came rushing back to the surface, and his heart hammered double-time in response. Damn.

Dallas’s pace slowed, but she continued across the street, her magnetic brown eyes held his attention, immobilizing him. Less than twenty feet from him and it was as if he were seeing her for the first time. A raging fire grew in the pit of his stomach, his hands ached to touch her, and all it had taken was that one look. This is not cool. He quickly pulled his eyes away and looked everywhere but at her, feeling the need to regroup. I’m supposed to be over her.

After a long cleansing breath, he looked up again just in time to see a car barreling toward her.

“Oh shit. Watch out!” he shouted, and then sprinted in her direction.

Screeeeechhhhhh! Boom!

“Nooo!” He yelled as her body bounced off the hood of the car. He slid to a stop before he reached the corner, shock kept him from moving forward. It wasn’t until the four-door dark sedan sped away in the opposite direction that he moved into action.

“Excuse me, excuse me.” He pushed his way through the swarm of people. An icy fear crawled up his spine when he saw her lifeless body on the hard pavement, a puddle of blood painted the ground near her head. “Oh my God,” he whispered and fell to his knees. “Dallas. Baby…” He caressed her cheek, afraid to move her. His heart pounded against his chest, and beads of sweat surfaced on his forehead as panic rioted within him. “Get some help over here!”

Time ceased as a haunting sense of foreboding wrapped around him when he checked and found her pulse was weak. He needed to do something, but thankfully, in the far distance he could hear the sirens. “Hold on, baby, hold on.”
